What's New? 🌟

  • On Prem Sharing Service Support FenixPyre Windows Client will now support CMMC compliant sharing via On Prem Sharing Service. Users are provided with a robust solution for secure file sharing (using FIPS-validated cryptographic libraries) and storage within their internal network.

Enhancements

  • Support long file paths for encryption/decryption

    Added support of the files having long file paths which exceed Windows MAX_PATH limit (~260 character).

  • Microsoft Office and Outlook Add-Ins Management Organizations can now choose to install or uninstall Microsoft Office and Outlook Add-Ins along with the FenixPyre Windows Client. The default behaviour is to install the add-ins along with the Windows Client. Administrators can raise a support ticket with FenixPyre to not install the add-ins for their organization.

  • FenixPyre Client Improvements Enhancements in the stability and reliability of the Windows Client.

Bug Fixes

  • Stabliity Improvements Fixes for a rare issue that could cause system crashes on Windows devices running specific March Windows updates along with Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (formerly Windows Defender ATP) appeared on a very specific configuration has been resolved.

  • Security Improvements Discovered and resolved a security vulnerability due to an unquoted service path.

  • Tray app Improvements Resolved the infinite "RestartServices" loop issue in the tray application.

  • Microsoft Office Add-Ins

    • Eliminated reliance on internal DLL to enhance stability.

    • Resolved potential crashes in Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.

    • Fixed issue with the custom file repair window.

  • Communication with Server Resolution of the "No credentials were available in the client certificate" error by saving the Agent's client certificate in its isolated certificate store.

  • Compliance Mode Disabling Compliance Mode is restricted when encrypted files are accessed using an application.

Auto-Update from version 6.2.0 and above

Admins can now set FenixPyre Client version 6.4.0 as the default installer for the organization. This version is also available as an auto-update option via the system tray app. To update, navigate to Action -> Check and Install Updates on the FenixPyre Windows Client.

Manual Update to version 6.4.0

For agents running versions 5.0.0 and above:

  • You can upgrade from agent versions 5.0.0 and above to v6.4.0 using the FPUpdater.exe executable, available in the v6.4.0 zip file. The file can be downloaded from the admin dashboard.

  • To complete the upgrade, follow these steps:

    • Double-click on FPUpdater.exe. The tool will automatically:

      • Uninstall the current agent version

      • Reboot the PC

      • Install version 6.4.0

      • Reboot the PC again

      • Users will be required to sign in after the final reboot

For agents running versions below 5.0.0:

Migration Guide: From version 5.3.3 or below to 6.x.x
  • If you are running an agent version below 5.0.0, follow these steps to upgrade to v6.4.0:

    • Manually uninstall the current version from the PC

    • Reboot the PC

    • Install version 6.4.0 using the FPInstaller.exe file

    • Reboot the PC

    • Users will be required to sign in after the reboot
